Until now, all studies relating to travel in urban areas have limited their measurements to the euclidean distances. This practice gives the idea that the difficulty of travel is only a simple function of distance, while urban reality often imposes its constraints, among which are urban cuts. The main objectives of this research are first to draw up a literature review of this phenomenon (definitions, forms, typologies, and consequences), and secondly, to present an inventory of urban divisions through their distribution. space and their composition, and then their evaluation. The results obtained showed the diversity of categories of urban cuts in the city of Oujda and their negative impacts on the movement of residents. However, the evaluation of the effects of urban cuts on the movements of individuals was only possible through the use of a geographical information system dedicated to transport (SIG-T). This tool allowed, among other things, the modeling of detours and service areas.
