This article aims to provide an overview distinguishing managers as a profession and socio-professional category, particularly front-line managers or middle managers. In a dual informative and explanatory perspective, the manager's profile, the characteristics of their role, their position within the company, and the company's impact on them are examined. The objective is to identify managers from other socio-professional categories and to reveal the challenges in clearly defining their roles and functions. Furthermore, it sheds light on unfavorable working conditions that have a negative impact on their professional and personal lives. This article reveals that the nature of the managers's work leads to a tendency to distance oneself from the company, a alteration of the manager's professional identity, an increase in workplace pressure, and an imbalance between work and leisure time.
