Déterminants macroéconomiques de l’épargne en République Démocratique du Congo de 2000-2022

L’étude a analysé les déterminants macroéconomiques de l’épargne en RDC entre 2000 et 2022, période marquée par instabilité monétaire et faibles revenus des ménages. À l’aide d’un modèle ARDL et de tests de stationnarité et de cointégration (Pesaran), nous avons examiné  l’impact du PIB par habitant, du taux de change, de l’inflation et du taux directeur sur l’épargne nationale.Les résultats ont montré que la croissance du PIB stimule l’épargne à court terme, tandis que l’inflation et les fluctuations du taux de change la réduisent. Le taux directeur peut, en revanche, encourager l’épargne financière lorsqu’il est relevé.

La conclusion principale est que la mobilisation de l’épargne en RDC dépend fortement de la stabilité macroéconomique : seule une politique monétaire crédible et des instruments financiers attractifs permettront de renforcer l’épargne intérieure et soutenir le développement durable.

The study analyzed the macroeconomic determinants of savings in the DRC between 2000 and 2022, a period marked by monetary instability and low household incomes. Using an ARDL model and tests for stationarity and cointegration (Pesaran), we examined the impact of GDP per capita, the exchange rate, inflation, and the policy rate on national savings.

The results showed that GDP growth stimulates savings in the short term, while inflation and exchange rate fluctuations reduce them. The policy rate, on the other hand, can encourage financial savings when raised.

The main conclusion is that the mobilization of savings in the DRC depends heavily on macroeconomic stability: only a credible monetary policy and attractive financial instruments will make it possible to strengthen domestic savings and support sustainable development.
