Abstract:

Stakeholder theory postulates that corporate environmental responsibility of banks is driven by the desire of stakeholders to meet the ecological aspirations. From this assumption, this research analyzes the influence of stakeholders on the level of corporate environmental responsibility of banking groups in Africa. Thus, a sample of 42 multinational banks is observed between 2005 and 2014. Data used derived from annual reports and processed by a panel data regression. Finally, it appears that stakeholders significantly affect corporate environmental responsibility of banks in Africa. Likewise, employees, institutional investors, foreign shareholders and women positively and significantly influence the level of corporate environmental responsibility of banking groups in Africa
